Unexpected Events As A Photographer

As a wedding and portrait photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and vendors. Learning about them, their loves, and the stories that continue to grow is always something incredible to witness. But I never could have guessed how one person from my story would resurface.
I had the opportunity to participate in Westvirjeni’s Content Day this year and I enjoyed every moment of it. I met incredible people and the vendors were beyond amazing. As I was moving through each station, there was one individual that I could not figure out where I knew her from. I knew I met her before and I could not pinpoint where it was.

After speaking to her several times throughout the day, I finally asked what she did for a living. She explained that she worked as a nurse in the NICU department at the local hospital. And that is when it all clicked.

My son was born two and a half years ago. He came early due to lack of oxygen and was put in the NICU the moment he was born. I only got to see him for a second before they took him away. I spent four days watching my son through a little clear box as he was getting better. The nurses were phenomenal and I was able to stay with him 24/7 until he would come home.

During the nurse’s shift change, I met our night nurse Ryndi. She was a sweetheart and took really good care of my son. Throughout the night, she would come in and check on him and us as well. At one point, she looked at me and said “do you want to hold him?” I looked at her in disbelief because I was told I was not allowed to hold him for awhile. We got all set up and she put my son in my arms and I cried. This was the very first time I held my son and I truly will never forget it.

I never really got to thank her or any of the other nurses due to a very tragic mishap which caused my son to be transferred to a larger hospital. But two years later, I finally got to tell her thank you for being so caring and just an all around wonderful nurse to my family.

And I hope all the other nurses who took care of my son are reading this because thank you for everything you did and THANK YOU for saving my son’s life.
